Culipandeo

We usually use this game in the final part of the session. Children find it very fun and  it is  very useful for  teachers in order to work various aspects, such as:

    Body Schema
    Accumulative memory
    Attention
    Cooperation

In addition, we incorporate the use of English as the vehicular language.  We  can review  the colors, body parts, and some actions, such as: to pass, to start, to use, and to stop.  We also practice the act of denial by using the word “don’t."

The game is simple. It consists of passing the ball to the mate on the right in a certain way. Then, the students add another ball of a different color and pass in a different way.  Continue to add new balls of different colors and pass in different ways until there are four or five balls in play. The group must keep the balls under their control.  This is sometimes quite difficult when the excitement is increasing, and the group fails to act cooperatively. However, this makes the game more fun.

I encourage you to try this game with your pupils. I’d like to help you by providing this document which includes some "useful sentences" for the game.

Please, leave your comments if you ever play  "culipandeo"

Changing games for having more fun

Is a fact, we always play during the PE lessons, but sometimes the games are boring or too well known.
Every year we do an unit about  "transformations" where the kids make some changes in the games in order to make them more fun when we play them. We can't change the goals of the games, although the space, materials or number of players can be changed. This is a way to create new games for PE lessons and encourage our pupil to invent and develop their creativity.
The method consists in suggesting some "mother games" and then the pupils analise the games and think about what changes can be make to make the game more interesting, or funnier. The group test the new games and decides what are the best. The best are included in the curriculum for the next year .
The" mother games" are:
Four Corners, The Scarf, The Rescue, Hide and Seek and Hopscotch.
In this link you can find the original rules of these games.
Soon we will have the new collection and we´ll share it with  all of you, please wait for our news.

Duck, duck, goose: todo un clásico

The game starts with the group sitting in a circle. One of the players moves around the circle touching the other player's head and saying "duck" each time. Whenever he/she wants,he/she touches someone's head saying "goose". Then, the person who was touched stands up and chases the first one, trying to catch him/her before he/she arrives to the empty place and sit in it.
If the first player sits, the second one stars the game again. If the second player is catching he/she has to sit in the middle of the circle, "the saucepan", and wait there until other player is catched.
You can change the words in order to revise the names of animals, for instance: Reptiles (toad-frog), insects (bee-fly), mammals (donkey-horse)...
